Talking to God

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7).

Do you talk to God? You know His there don’t you?

“The Lord is near” it says and “let your requests be made known to God”.

God is near to all those who have received and accepted His message to trust in Jesus. He has adopted us as His children. That is a big deal because in the 1st Century context, adoption means that you have full rights as a full member of the family.

God is our Father in heaven. The Creator and Owner of all things. His power is unlimited and His wisdom and understanding perfect. Why would you not want to talk to your heavenly Father?

Because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we can come to God without guilt and with full confidence of His love for us. This means we can talk to God anytime and anyplace we wish. We don’t need a priest because Jesus is the High priest Who has entered heaven itself to stand in the presence of God and as our representative make our requests before God.

We can talk to God in our heart and through our thoughts, and just be conscience that He hears us and is listening. He is concerned and involved in all we do.

So talk to Him about anything and everything that concerns you and tell Him how you feel. He will always answer you through His word in the Bible and through your brother and sisters in Christ.

The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
