Faith Hope and Love

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

(1 Corinthians 13:13).

The love of God is about sacrificial giving, forgiveness, grace and mercy.

God “is” love. He is the Creator of love. Jesus is the definition and example of what love is and what love looks like.

Love is not just a feeling - but a deep emotion which every human being fails to fully express and do.

Hope in the character of God is an anchor for our soul.

Hope keeps us going when we run out of fuel, and keeps us from falling into the pit of despair when things seem hopeless.

Hope gives us wings to soar above our capabilities and face our impossibilities. Hope gives us strength, purpose and direction.

But the only hope which is truly hope - is hope in the promises and faithfulness of God.

Real hope must have a trustworthy object to hope in, otherwise it’s a misdirected delusion, based on impersonal forces of chance, which we call luck.

If God is the object of our hope; then this is hope that will truly sustain us and do us good, because God has proved Himself faithful in keeping His promises.

Faith in Jesus is the foundation to enable true love and hope to exist.

Genuine personal confidence and faith that Jesus is God, that He died and rose again for our salvation, and that He will return, is absolutely necessary for us to truly love and have real hope.

The faith we need is to sincerely trust with all our heart in who Jesus is and that we will one day see Him face to face after death or at His return, and we will also be resurrected to spend eternity with Him.

Faith is essential for love and hope to operate. Without it we are lost in darkness, without hope.

Genuine faith in the faithful love of Jesus gives us real hope.

Psalm 23

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.

3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

1 Peter 1:3-9

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”

Psalm 16:8-11

“I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to decay in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever”

1 John 4:10

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins”

Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

Romans 5:1-2

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
